U.S., Poland Ink Space Data-sharing Agreement

The U.S. Strategic Command and the Polish Space Agency will be sharing space services and data as part of an effort to boost both nations’ awareness in the space domain.

The agreement was signed April 10 at the 35th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Poland now joins 18 nations and nearly 80 commercial satellite owners, operators and launchers already sharing space situational awareness data with the command.

“This agreement expands our already strong military and economic partnership into another domain,” said Rear Adm. Richard Correll, director of plans and policy for USSTRATCOM, who signed the agreement. “Agreements like this one, between responsible nations, are critical to setting norms that encourage peaceful space operations.”

Space situational awareness data-sharing agreements bolster multinational space cooperation and make it easier for USSTRATCOM partners to request specific information gathered by Air Force Space Command’s 18th Space Control Squadron at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, USSTRATCOM said.
