Lawmakers Want Review of TransDigm Overcharges in DOD Contracts

After an oversight committee hearing brought to light a defense contractorā€™s excess profits, lawmakers are now asking a watchdog to review the companyā€™s overcharges in all its Pentagon contracts.

In a June 6 letter to the Defense Department inspector general, Reps. Elijah Cummings, Stephen Lynch, Jackie Speier and Ro Khanna said the IG had reviewed only a small sample of TransDigmā€™s contracts and ā€œit is highly likely the company is receiving additional excess profits that have yet not been identified.ā€

TransDigm had to return $16 million after the House Committee on Oversight and Reform held a hearing last month highlighting a report identifying millions of dollars in overages.

ā€œThe Committee requests that your office conduct a review of the price reasonableness determinations for all contracts awarded to TransDigm by DOD from January 1, 2017, to the present, with a contract value between $200,000 and $250,000 and between $600,000 and $750,000,ā€ the lawmakers said in their letter.
