Bill to Help Veteran Become Successful Small Biz Owners

A newly introduced bill intends to make it easier for veterans to become entrepreneurs and succeed at their small business endeavors. 

Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., and Tim Kaine, D-Va., introduced the Veterans Small Business Ownership Improvements Act on June 26 to help veterans transition to civilian life and build a pipeline of veteran small business owners. 

In a statement, Gardner said over 200,000 veterans transition to civilian life yearly, and they’re more likely to be self-employed than those who didn’t serve. 

“This bill will make sure our nation’s veterans who wish to start a business are introduced to the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to live their dream and establish a successful business,” the senator said.    

Among many other actions, the Veterans Small Business Ownership Improvements Act will improve  

Small Business Administration efforts to support transitioning service members, veteran entrepreneurs and families. The legislation would also provide veteran entrepreneurs with training and instruction through the Boots to Business and Veterans’ Business Outreach Center programs. Additionally, the bill would ensure veterans have access to information about SBA entrepreneurship programs that support veterans.
