FORT KNOX, KY — The military is telling Americans not to fall for a hoax saying they've been drafted.

A text message has been going out saying the person receiving the text has been drafted and must report for immediate departure to Iran.

The U.S. Army Recruiting Command reminds Americans there has been no active draft since 1973.It will also take an act of Congress to bring the draft back.

People have sent screenshots of the texts to the military asking them if this is real.

This comes after the Iranian conflict escalation in recent weeks, most recently with Iran launching more than a dozen missiles at two Iraqi military bases that host U.S. forces.

Addressing the nation from the White House, President Trump said Iran appears to be standing down.

Trump did not threaten any retaliatory strikes against Iran, but he noted the reach and strength of the U.S. military.Iran's attacks followed the recent U.S. airstrike that killed a top Iranian military leader in Iraq.

Trump threatened additional sanctions against Iran and called on NATO to get more involved in the Middle East peace process.
