Jonathan Hoffman said President Trump has the right to put together the team he wants. His comments come as CNN reported Under Secretary of Defense for Policy John Rood was asked to submit his resignation.

That comes as senior national security leadership don't support him anymore.Rood has been part of the Trump administration for two years.

President Trump publicly thanked Rood as he’s being forced out of his job.In a tweet, Trump thanked John Rood for his service and wished him "well in his future endeavors."

Rood was involved in certifying to lawmakers that Ukraine was eligible to receive military assistance.

The Democratic-led House impeached Trump in December after he withheld congressionally-authorized security assistance to Ukraine while pressuring Ukraine to investigate Democrats. The President was later acquitted by the Republican-controlled Senate.
