MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD -- Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will move the county into Phase 1 of recovery on June 1.

Elrich announced at a press conference this afternoon that starting at 6:00 a.m. Monday June 1 the stay-at-home order will be lifted, but many restrictions will remain in place.

Following the guidelines outlined by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, under Phase 1, manufacturing will be able to reopen provided they follow CDC guidelines. Barbershops and hair salons will be able to open by appointment only and both customers and employees must wear mask.

Restaurants will be allowed to open outdoor seating, but employees and guests will need to wear face coverings and no more than six guests may be sat at a table, tables must be six feet apart and no more than 50 people will be allowed in an establishment at any time.

Houses of worship will be allowed to reopen, but no more than 10 worshippers may enter at a time. Childcare services may resume, but must follow CDC guidelines and Famers Markets will reopen for carryout as well.

Lastly, car washes can reopen, but drivers and passengers must remain in the car. Parks will remain open with appropriate social distancing measures, but fitness facilities will remain closed during this phase.
