DC Chamber of Commerce: Proposed Advertising Tax Will Impact DC Businesses

New tax proposal could affect DC businesses hit hard by the pandemic.

WASHINGTON, DC -- The D.C. Chamber of Commerce says a newly proposed tax on advertisement and personal services before the D.C. Council will affect already hard-hit local businesses.

Interim President and CEO of the D.C. Chamber of Commerce, Angela Franco, says restaurants make up a major portion of businesses in the DC area, and despite the District moving into Phase 2 of re-opening, it has been a struggle for many owners to rebound. Franco says an additional tax could be the difference between for survival and permanent closure for many businesses.
