Wolf Trap Keeps Season Alive With Drive-in Movies, Prepares for Next Year

Wolf Trap

VIENNA, VA -- As the pandemic is bringing many programs to a halt, The Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is launching a drive-in movie series and preparing for next year's season.

"It's been hard for all of who have been suffering from the impact of the pandemic," Wolf Trap President and CEO Arvind Manocha tells 104.7 WONK FM's Jen Richer. "We're not able to do the things that we like to do, and for those of us in the business of bringing people together and bringing artists and their audiences together, we're not doing what we're here to do."

Wolf Trap, like so many other performing arts organizations has had to cancel their 2020 season in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus, but that hasn't stopped them from pulling together programming all together.

For that past few months the Foundation has been streaming performances for audiences online, and this week they are opening the national park once again for drive-in movies.

Here's the line-up for this week's drive-in movies:

  • This is Spinal Tap (8/5)
  • Mamma Mia! (8/6)
  • Sing (8/7)
  • Dreamgirls (8/8)
  • Dirty Dancing (8/9)
