NASA Nominee Nelson: Astronauts On Moon By 2024 Still Possible

Astronauts On Moon By 2024 Still Possible

(Washington, DC) -- President Biden's choice to lead NASA says the U.S. still has a shot at landing astronauts on the moon by 2024. In his Senate confirmation hearing Wednesday, Bill Nelson said the space agency is going to try to adhere to that timetable. But the former Democratic senator from Florida also told the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation to "recognize that, with some sobering reality, that space is hard." Senators from both parties showered praise on Nelson for his decades-long support for NASA and space exploration. He spent six days in space on a shuttle mission in 1986 when he was a congressman.
