A new "roller-skating jamboree" is coming to downtown D.C. this weekend!
Over 1,000 people have registered for DowntownDC On Wheels which starts Friday afternoon and lasts until Sunday evening. F Street NW will be closed to traffic between 8th and 9th Streets for roller skaters.
Neil Albert, president and executive director of the DowntownDC Business Improvement District says, "It's really an attempt to get people to come back to downtown D.C., and also provide some fun and entertaining activities. We're hoping that the community of skaters in D.C. will come out and enjoy free skating."
To take part, people need to register online in advance and you can reserve hour-long sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Organizers recommend people bring their own skates, but limited numbers of pairs will be available to borrow.
A local group called Rolloway Productions will be on-site as well to provide skate lessons and performances. Movies will also be playing, DJs will be playing music and Shake Shack food will be available on-site.
