The famous Rockerfeller Center Christmas Tree in New York City is going to be extra special this year in our area. That's because for the first time ever, the tree is coming from Maryland.

A family who live in Elkton, MD is donating the 79-foot Norway Spruce tree that will be sent to the Rockerfeller Center next weekend. The 12-ton tree is set to be cut down on Thursday, November 11th.

The tree will be wrapped in 50,000 multi-colored LED lights and will be crowned with a Swarovski crystal.

The live "Christmas in Rockerfeller Center" television program, showing the lighting of the tree will be broadcast on NBC on Wednesday, December 1st.
