Two More Potential DMV Winter Storms Are Shaping Up for Later This Week

We're barely halfway into the first half of the first month of 2022 and the DMV has already seen its share of winter weather events, at least for our region. And two more possibly "significant winter storms" could be coming later in the week.

FOX 5 DC meteorologist Mike Thomas writes of two possible winter weather events that could be on the way. One, possibly disruptive snow event on Thursday morning, and one possibly significant winter storm Friday night into Saturday.

The storm on Thursday morning is not expected to bring much accumulation, in the range of 1-2" at the time of this writing, but Thomas points out that the timing would be during the morning commute.

However, one forecast model is showing the potential for as much as a foot or more snow being dumped on the region with the second weather event Friday night into Saturday.

Early last week, some models showed a big snow storm in the DC and Baltimore metro areas happening this past weekend, but temperatures kept much of the precipitation as rain. So there is still time for the forecasts to change, but it's worth keeping an eye on.
