Katie Lipp, Founder, Lipp Law

Katie dedicates her practice to employment separation guidance. Based on her successful employment litigation practice, she has been named a Super Lawyers’ Rising Star for Employment Litigation in DC and Virginia, a Legal Elite by Virginia Business Magazine, and an Up and Coming Lawyer by Virginia Lawyers Weekly. In 2019, Katie was named a Top Attorney by Arlington Magazine, a Top Lawyer by Northern Virginia Magazine, and received Avvo’s Client’s Choice Award and again was recognized as a Legal Elite by Virginia Business Magazine and as a Super Lawyer in the area of Employment Litigation for Washington DC and Virginia. She is admitted to practice in Virginia and Washington, DC, and has been specially admitted to litigate non-compete cases in Maryland and Delaware.

Her corporate clients have employees nationwide, and call on her to resolve matters involving employment terminations and complicated HR matters. Katie enjoys representing technology companies, given her firm’s proximity to the Northern Virginia tech corridor.

In the courtroom, she defends employers against employee claims such as harassment, discrimination and retaliation, and litigates cases involving non-competes and misappropriation of trade secrets.

Her select executive and individual clients are facing employment separation, discipline, and evaluating new employment offers, ventures and contracts.

Katie’s education clients are teachers and professors who need counsel regarding discipline, HR communications, requesting workplace accommodations, and severance negotiations.

Katie wrote a book on internal workplace investigations, and has taught HR workshops to attorneys, HR managers, and executives on employment handbooks, employment law updates, and medical marijuana in the workplace.

Katie regularly works with Fairfax County Public Schools teachers and has conducted several presentations on knowing your rights in the workplace.

Katie graduated from George Mason University, Antonin Scalia School of Law, and was a Senior Notes Editor for the Journal of Law, Economics and Policy.
