How much would you pay to escape the pandemic? Obviously, there's no guarantee, but one New Yorker dropped $2 million dollars for the promise of one.

As the numbers of those infected jumped in New York City, one of the nation’s pandemic hot spots, a New York City-based businessman tried to outrun the outbreak by fleeing to the Hamptons.

The cost of the rental, according to property developer Joe Farrell: $2 million. Apparently, the record number of deaths in New York over the past three days spooked the man; Farrell says he "and his family were stuck in Manhattan and wanted to leave the city on a day’s notice."
